Château Ascumbas : rooted in history

In 2022, as part of its ongoing expansion, La Maison Younan acquired its third vineyard in the St Emilion region, Château Ascumbas, a vineyard of 5.32 Hectares of vines on a single parcel in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation, with the primary mission of improving viticulture and vinification processes as had been done at the other two vineyards.

Rooted in history, this estate bears the name given to the region before the arrival of the monk Emilion. Composed of different types of terroir ranging from clayey-siliceous to sandy, and neighboring prestigious Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé properties, the estate is made up of vines with an average age of 35 years, and produces predominantly Merlot (63%) and Cabernet Franc (37%) grapes.

Zaya S. Younan, CEO of La Maison Younan, says: “As a wine lover, I was delighted to expand our international presence and continue producing wines in the world's most impressive region: Saint-Émilion, in the Bordeaux region of France. The land, soil and vines of Château Ascumbas make it a perfect addition to our portfolio of vineyards. We look forward to investing in and improving the viticulture and winemaking processes at Château Ascumbas, just as we have at our other two properties, so that we can continue to produce delicious wines for the world to enjoy”.

This 5-hectare estate, adjacent to prestigious Grands Crus Classés, expresses the richness of its terroir through wines dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, promising a memorable tasting experience.

The 2022, the first vintage produced, will be available in early 2025.
