Château Ascumbas : rooted in history
Acquired in 2022, Château Ascumbas enriches the collection of Saint-Emilion Grand Crus.
In 2022, as part of its ongoing expansion, La Maison Younan acquired its third vineyard in the St Emilion region, Château Ascumbas, a property of 5.32 Hectares of vines on a single parcel in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, with the primary mission of improving viticulture and vinification processes as had been done at the other two properties.
Rooted in history, this estate bears the name given to the region before the arrival of the monk Emilion. Composed of different types of terroir ranging from clayey-siliceous to sandy, and neighboring prestigious Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé properties, the estate is made up of vines with an average age of 35 years, and produces predominantly Merlot (63%) and Cabernet Franc (37%) grapes.
Zaya S. Younan, CEO of La Maison Younan, says: “As a wine lover, I was delighted to expand our international presence and continue producing wines in the world's most impressive region: Saint-Émilion, in the Bordeaux region of France. The land, soil and vines of Château Ascumbas make it a perfect addition to our portfolio of vineyards. We look forward to investing in and improving the viticulture and winemaking processes at Château Ascumbas, just as we have at our other two properties, so that we can continue to produce delicious wines for the world to enjoy”.
