The history of Younan Wine Estates
Founded in 2016, La Maison Younan currently owns seven 4 and 5-stars hotel châteaux (in France and Portugal), three golf courses, a design company (MPA in Paris), a cigar company (El Septimo in Geneva) and also 3 Wine Estates.
Its founder, Zaya S. Younan, an American businessman of Assyrian origin, is a lover of French culture, its heritage and its riches. He wants to revive and support the French art of living. Zaya S. Younan's dream of owning a vineyard in the prestigious Saint-Emilion region became a reality in 2017 with the acquisition of his first vineyard: Château La Croix Fourney, subsequently renamed Château la Croix Younan. His passion for France, its culture, its châteaux and its way of life was the driving force behind this unique winegrowing adventure.
Since its first vineyard acquisition in 2017, La Maison Younan has made the quest for excellence the driving force behind its efforts to profoundly transform the vineyards it acquires: Château La Croix Younan (Acquisition 2017), Château Zaya (Acquisition 2018) and Château Ascumbas (Acquisition 2022)
Located in the famous Saint-Emilion region, on Bordeaux's right bank, Younan Wine Estates produce exceptional quality red wines predominantly made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
“In our quest for excellence, we are determined to leave our mark on the next vintages of our 3 vineyards. We've started by renovating the cellars, followed by a rigorous selection of oak barrels to ensure the best possible vinification and ageing process. We want the best to produce Saint-Emilion grands crus in the pure tradition of its terroir. The terroir provides everything. Man accompanies the vine through his work. We vinify with heart, because making wine is an art, not a hobby.” Zaya S. Younan
